DIY Custom Monogram Letter Kids Room Name Plate

MDF Monogram Letter Cutouts

In other more developed countries, such as the United States and Canada, where every child has their own room to live in, the kids room nameplate trend first gained traction and popularity. This trend was not that popular in India. But in today's world, even if there is no other spare space for children, they still have their own private nook in which to keep their essentials. Custom monogram letters and a name plate for kids will help to make this space unique and beautiful.

What's the point in buying a prefabricated kids' room name plate when it's so simple to make your own? In this section, we have drafted the simple-to-paint and simple-to-install MDF monogram letter cutouts that you can make yourself. We will learn how to paint and recreate the customized MDF alphabet letters with a kids room name plate.

How To DIY Custom MDF Kids Name Plate Base?

To begin with the kids’ room name plate, make sure to consider the color combination of your kids room. We're using an MDF baby name plate with cutout wooden monogram letters.

Steps To Paint The DIY Kids’ Room Name Plate:

Before starting the artwork, understand about the kids’ name plate facility. Here, you will get the decor essentials and name cutouts separately in your box. You are free to set the flowers and flamingo at any place you want.

1) Keep your necessities handy

Use the plastic covers to safeguard your table or other surface from accidental paint splashes.

Have the things you'll need within reach. Use a soft cotton cloth to wipe the base of the name plate clean of dust and debris.

It is important to note that if you are working with your children, it is important to explain everything about the name plate and the colours you are planning to use so that they feel confident.

    2) Prime the bases thoroughly

Prime the bases thoroughly with white gesso to get a smooth and prominent base for the artwork. If you are using chalk paint or resin art, priming the base is not mandatory.

      3) Start painting the colors

        For background:

Create a grey hue by mixing a tiny amount of black acrylic paint into white. Cover the MDF name plate base completely with paint using a flat brush with a number 12 on it.

        For Flamingo and Name cutouts:

Paint the hot pink color on the flamingo and name cutout with any of your round brush. If you are confused about how to make the hot pink color, then use the following method:

How to make hot pink color?
        • Apply some permanent crimson to your palette, such as Alizarin crimson or Quinacridone red.
        • Put some white paint on your palette, too.
        • You shouldn't combine them directly.
        • Gradually blend red paint into white. As it is less difficult to lighten the hue than to darken it.
        • Once you've settled on a colour you like, a touch of silver paint will give it a little something extra.
        • To finish, we'll throw in a touch of blue or violet.
        • The colour you want is ready.
        For Flower:

If you want a pastel blue color, mix a tiny amount of blue acrylic paint with white acrylic paint until you reach the desired shade. Completely coat the MDF flower base in paint using a round brush of size 2. Now, make the pastel peach color by the following method and apply it to the flower, the flamingo’s beak, neck, and tail.

How to create a pastel peach color

        • Peach is a trichromatic colour that combines red, yellow, and white.
        • Mix yellow into the red first. To get the right shade of peach, keep adding white.
        • Use deeper reds and yellows, like cadmium red and yellow, to achieve a peach skin tone.
        • Mixing with cool-toned colours, such lemon yellow and scarlet, will produce a paler peach.

        1) Let The Base Dries Completely

Now, leave everything to dry completely. Wait at least for few hours or a day to work further otherwise the color will be left with your finger prints.

        2) Fix Everything Together

Using the wooden glue, fix everything together on the name plate base. Once everything sets perfectly, varnish the base thoroughly. Your handcrafted DIY kids’ room name plate is ready to adorn the walls.
