Steps to make the crafty DIY name plate for home:

1) Prime the base with Gesso.

Because we'll be applying acrylic paints, a primer will ensure a flat, even surface upon which to build our masterpiece. When working with chalk paint, a primer is optional. Prime the name plate base and MDF monogram letter base with white Gesso. Once the gesso dries, move towards the painting work.

2) Apply the rustic red acrylic paint all over the nameplate planter base.

To ensure that the paint reaches every nook and cranny of the base, you should use a fine brush and proceed with extreme caution. After the paint has completely dried, apply a layer of varnish to the foundation to finish it off.

3) Take the mouldit clay for value adding elements

To achieve a uniform consistency in the finished product, mix the clay's resin and hardener together. Construct the two birds, the four flowers, and the four flowers from it. In order to make simple artwork, you can also use the tools for cutting and shaping clay. To achieve a silky finish with your clay, dust it with talcum powder. Once you've achieved the desired form, set it aside to dry for a full hour.

4) Paint the clay cutouts with acrylic color

As we have used the rustic red color on the wooden home name plate base, use the complementary color on the clay art. Paint the yellow and leaf green color on the flowers. Moreover, use the pastel colors on the birds. For special effect, add the fine details on the birds using a thin black marker pen.

5) Using glue, adhere everything to the base.

Put some wood glue on the birds and flowers, and then stick them to the planter box. In addition to that, varnish them using decor varnish for an even better result. Then, fix the MDF monogram letter base for the name identification on the name plate board.

Unwind and take it easy! You now have a planter with your house's name on it to use as an ornament on the front door of your home.

Note:

  • Instead of acrylic name cutouts, you can also make the name cutouts using mouldit clay.
  • At this time, additional values can be added, such as MDF birds, animals, flowers, and butterflies, among other potential options.
  • You are free to use whatever level of creativity you see fit in the process of modifying the base. It is up to you to decide whether you want to keep things simple or get creative with the situation.
